My Working Life

For more than five decades, my professional life has been closely connected to Danish music and cultural life. I have worked as an entrepreneur, managing director, project manager, adviser, coach and board member—often in roles focused on bringing people, ideas and organisations together and making them work well.

I began my career in the vibrant live music scene of the 1970s. From 1973 to 1979, I worked, among other things, for Roskilde Festival, where my responsibilities included music booking, marketing, press relations and backstage administration. This gave me an early understanding of just how many different people and professional disciplines need to come together for music to reach its audience.

In 1973, I co-founded PDH Dansk Musikformidling, which I ran until 1986. Here, I worked with music promotion, artists, marketing and production, collaborating with some of Denmark’s leading artists of the time. In 1983, I developed the idea for the GRØN KONCERT tour and brought together two of my clients, the Danish Muscular Dystrophy Foundation and Tuborg, with some of the artists I represented, including Sneakers with Sanne Salomonsen and Frede Fup. It was a project that combined music, touring and a social purpose, with free admission for everyone.

In 1983, I established Virgin Records Denmark ApS, where I served as Managing Director until 2002. My responsibilities included strategy, finance, marketing, sales, product selection and the day-to-day management of the company, as well as working closely with major international artists such as Mike Oldfield, David Bowie, George Michael, The Rolling Stones, Peter Gabriel, Bryan Ferry, the Spice Girls and many others.

At the same time, I was a member of Virgin Records’ international management group. This gave me the opportunity to work with colleagues across countries and to take part in international product presentations and decision-making processes concerning artist collaborations and marketing.

During the same period, I initiated the establishment and marketing of EVA Records, which, among other releases, launched the Absolute Music series.

After my time at Virgin, I continued working in the music industry. From 2003 to 2006, I was a project manager at SBS Records ApS, and from 2008 to 2024, I ran Blix Management, where I worked with advisory services, leadership and the development of people and projects within the creative industries.

Over the years, I became increasingly interested in the human side of creative working life. I therefore trained in NLP, Gestalt therapy and coaching. Since 2006, I have worked as a coach specialising in creative people.

Today, I work as Head of Secretariat for The Danish Academy of Rock and Popular Music. Since 2022, I have also served as a member of the Academy’s board and council, as well as its treasurer.
